IIT M is as good as any IIM

IIT M is as good as any IIM and in terms of infrastructure/facilities no b school can be compared with IITs. I am sorry but you should nt be comparing an XIMB or a NMISM with IIT M. Infact both the inst. are quite apart in all the standards and can be compared with each other or with other IITs like Delhi, Kharagpur and Chennai. No one denies in the fact that few years down the line IITs 'll be the biggest competitors of IIMs in pulling the best brains of the country.

I am givin cat 4 the 3rd time ... the first two were lazy attempts ... in 06 got a call frm SP Jain but messed it bigtime.... What JMET rank would get me a call frm IITM ??? i am again lookin for SP,NITIE,IITM,JB and NMIMS good colls in mumbai..... Thnks and Regards....

As you have mentioned this is going to be your 3rd attempt i am assuming that you have 2-3 years of work-ex. With that amount of exp I dont think NMIMS 'll be a right choice and NITIE is also okey kinda. I think the best option for you is to be in SPJAIN with IT specialization (again i am assuming you are in SW field)bcz off late SP has been very stringent in accepting students for that particular course and there are no freshers. IITM is also another good option and coming back to be your question on JMET rank, to be in safer side try to be within 150 though you might get a call with 280+ rank. and with reservation you can expect a call even with a rank of 500+

Hey the info was too good... I am wid TCS since Jul 05. even i dont prefer Narseee I am actually confused between SP Operations and SP IT.. as I am in ERP I feel Operations wud be a nice one for my growth.. besides SP IT is relatively new... so am not sure whether IT is good or not... and I am actually surprised when u said they ask for experience in IT.. I had a call for Opertions and the panelist said that they were lookin for 3 years experience and the list for IT had ppl born mostly in 83 or 84 so not much experience.... so it contradicts ... and i guess for NITIE this year sectional cutoffs were 80 percentile ?? correct me if i am wrong... So lets see wat is in store for me.. btw where are u ... i mean in the race or in some B School ?? Regards, kaps

Sorry for the confusion I meant to write abt the Operation specialization but wrote it as IT. Any how, on which ERP are you working - SAP /Oracle ? I have heard that TCS has started sponsoring its employee for MBA degree. Try for that also. NITIE cutoff - 95%tile, with an exceptional academic and good work-ex you might get a call with 92-93 but not below that. For SPJAIN you can expect a call even with 85+ percentile though thats rarity and the cutoff remains always more than 97 %tile.

I am wrkin in Oracle Apps... was a part of team that implemented apps at Sintex (Yes yes the kali tanky waala Sintex) TCS does sponsor and u need atleast 3 yrs in TCS for that ... One more thing abt SP Cutoff ... 85+ is not a rarity .. its mostly based on the way u fill the admission form .. it asks for achievements, wrk profile etc etc. So the more u GLORIFY ur self its good... :) 2 ppl wid 88% got call my frnd got thru wid 94 overall and 60 in DI !!!!!!! ths year ppl got call wid 75% also :-O ... watever ... thnx mate its nice communicating wid u... My motivation is up... No more movies n games full day will also study.... But u still didnt answer my quest... u still in the run or an MBA grad or in a B Skool ???????? Regards. Kapil
